The Veil Removed – What The Mass Really Is

We go to Mass because we’re supposed to. We sit in the pews following along with the prayers and hearing the Scripture readings. We stand, sit, and kneel because it’s what we have always done and everybody else is doing it. Sometimes our minds wander through the every day cares of our lives and, when Mass is over, we go about those those lives as if nothing has happened.

We complain that we don’t get anything out of Mass. Maybe we are looking for the wrong things…

We need to realize what the Mass really is…

The Veil Removed is a short film that reveals the coming together of heaven and earth at Mass, as seen by saints and mystics, revealed by scripture and in the catechism of the Catholic Church.

Why Catholics Call Mary Their Mother

When Catholics call Mary their mother, it may seem like they are taking away some of the respect due to Jesus and giving it to Mary. This is far from the case. Fr. Mike points out two reasons why calling Mary our mother can improve our relationship with Christ, and strengthen our faith life. 1. Loving the people Jesus loves helps you love him more. The more you love Mary the more you love God. 2. Jesus gave Mary to us as our Mother on the Cross. “When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son!’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother!’ And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home” (John 19:26-27).

Act Of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Protestants vs Reason

I have been accused in the comments on some of my videos, more than a few times, of being someone who relies too much on human logic and reason and not enough on scripture or revelation to make my case. Or if that accusation isn’t made outright, I’ll often see complaints from people saying that I didn’t cite any or enough bible verses and that this is a typical problem with Catholics – we aren’t fluent enough in the Bible so we have to rely on fallible human logic. – Brian Holdsworth

COME HOME TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

COME HOME TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ~ Pt. 1: A series of 4 lectures dealing with why Catholics leave their Church, why others criticize and attack the Catholic Church, and why you should come home to the Catholic Church. “At the end you and I are going to be one of two things , and you know some people just hate this kinda talk, that’s why I love to do it. Its true in the end were are going to be one of two things: a Winner or a Loser.. Heaven or Hell.. THAT’S IT!.” ~ F.J.C

Why Is Taking the Lord’s Name in Vain Wrong?

There’s a reason why “Do not take the Lord’s name in vain” is not only one of the ten commandments, but is second on the list. Taking the Lord’s name in vain is a big deal. Yet so many of us do it anyway all of the time. It has almost become part of our everyday vocabulary. We may say we don’t take the Lord’s name in vain, we just say it without meaning it sometimes. But saying it without meaning it is in fact taking the Lord’s name in vain. Saying “O my God” or “Jesus Christ” in vain, meaning saying it unintentionally or in anger, is a mortal sin. The Lord gave us his name out of love and trust. Let’s not abuse it, but hold it in our hearts and call upon his name when we need him. In prayer, his name has the power to cast out demons and scare away evil. Remember that power, especially when tempted to use his name in vain. The minced oaths and funny sayings of yesteryear that you may have heard your grandpa say may make a little more sense when considering the gravity of breaking the second commandment. Why not bring bring back that “speak no evil” mindset, and say “Jiminy Cricket” or “God bless America and all the ships at sea” instead. If we’re not going to turn a slip of the tongue into a prayer, we can at least make our words into a jovial character of some kind.

Mother Angelica 2nd Interview with Father Steven Scheier If you noticed, Fr. Steven Scheier’s terrible accident happened October 18, the ANNIVERSARY OF OUR LADY’S FIRST MESSAGE OF GARABANDAL, given to the four girls, Conchita, Loli, Jacinta, and Mari Cruz: “Many SACRIFICES must be made. Much PENANCE must be done. We must pay many visits to the BLESSED SACRAMENT, BUT first of all we must be VERY GOOD. If we do not do this, PUNISHMENT awaits us. Already THE CUP IS FILLING, and if we do not change WE SHALL BE PUNISHED.”

The Pennsylvania Sex Abuse Scandal

This talk is difficult for Fr. Mike to give, but sadly, it is also necessary. Since the Pennsylvania Report was released, practically every headline with the word “Catholic” in it has been about the report, which covers seventy years and gives accounts of three hundred priests who allegedly abused over one thousand minors over. Indignation is not the main message Fr. Mike wants to express here—although he feels that too. More than anything, he wants his viewers to know that now—more than ever—we need to live virtuous and holy lives and become the saints the Church needs.

This should be a required homily in EVERY Catholic church.
