Early Church Fathers
In this special episode of the Journey Home, Marcus shares his discoveries in the writings of the Early Church Fathers he never saw when he was a Protestant. He talks about such writers as: St. Clement of Rome, St. Ignatius of Antioch, St. Irenaeus, St. Justin Martyr, St. Cyprian of Carthage, St. Ambrose of Milan and St. Augustine of Hippo.
There are many people today who see no need to belong to a church, who believe that Christians only need the Bible as their sole rule of faith. For these same people, private interpretation of the Bible and a personal relationship with Jesus excludes any role for a Pope, bishops or priests. This is essentially ‘Jesus and me Christianity.’ Unfortunately, such a mentality has led to the creation of thousands of competing sects that causes both confusion and scandal for Christians. In this talk, Robert Haddad draws exclusively on Scripture to show that Christ had another vision for Christians. From Scripture, Robert proves that Christ did in fact establish a single church, that this church was founded on the ‘rock’ of St Peter, and that this church is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. This same Church continues to this day led by the Pope and the bishops of the world in communion with him and is the “pillar and bulwark of the truth.”
Steve Ray, Host of The Footprints of God Video Series, Pilgrimage Guide, Conference Speaker, and author of “Upon This Rock: St. Peter and the Primacy of Rome in Scripture and the Early Church”, talks about the earliest Christian authors and their lives.
Great talk from the program “Catholic Forum” on the Faith of the Early Church Fathers
